How to disable FlashPlayerPlugin process
With the release of Flash player 11.3 Adobe has changed their player so it uses a different process when playing flash videos in the browser. The main reason for that was to ensure that if for whatever reason the flash player encounters a problem the browser will be unaffected. In some cases users expressed that the new process was causing issues for them which means that the ideal thing to do in that case is to disable flash’s protected mode.
In order to disable flash’s protected mode follow the next steps:
- Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash (Windows 64-bit systems) or C:\Windows\System32\Macromed (Windows 32-bit systems) depending on what Windows bit version you are running
- Locate and open the file with the name mms.cfg
- Then simply change the line
ProtectedMode
line from ProtectedMode=1 to ProtectedMode=0 - Restart your browser
Now flash player should no longer start a separate process everytime a flash video is being played in your browser.
pls… help me to cheats
First I had to search for and download a program to be able to open
the mms.cfg file.
Then I had to do some additional searching because the above instructions
stopped short of where the mms.cfg file was.
And so now that I finally got it open I found that it doesn’t even have
what these instructions say is inside.
I have two lines that say “AUTOUPDATEDISABLE=0” and “SILENTAUTOUPDATEENABLE=1”
So I have no clue why the above instructions says “PROTECTEDMODE”
Hello c morgan,
First of all thank you for your reply.
The location for the mms.cfg file was specified above. Both for the 32bit and 64bit systems. In order to open the file you will need a text editor, so even notepad would suffice.
Finally, if the PROTECTEDMODE line does not exist in the mms.cfg file you can add it yourself. Just copy paste “ProtectedMode=0” (without the quotes) at the end of the file and save it.
Remember that editing files in Windows/Program files might require admin privileges, so if you have trouble saving the file make sure to start your text editor as admin and try again.
